North Myrtle Beach spokesperson says no comment on council member DUI charge
A North Myrtle Beach council member was arrested Saturday on charges of driving under the influence in Myrtle Beach.
Nicole “Nikki” Fontana, 51, was arrested by Myrtle Beach police on suspicion of driving under the influence, arrest records show. The records show it is her first offense.
Fontana did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent on Sunday.
A North Myrtle Beach spokesperson said that the city is aware of the arrest, but will not comment on any of the specifics of the incident.
“This is a personal legal matter, and we respect the ongoing legal process,” Lauren Jessie said in a message to The Sun News.
Fontana is the council member for the Windy Hill ward. Her seat on the council is up for re-election in November.
The Sun News has requested the arrest warrant and incident report for Fontana’s arrest.
