Festivals & fireworks: Don’t miss these free Myrtle Beach Labor Day weekend events
The sun is setting on the summer season in the Myrtle Beach area, but there’s still time to enjoy the end of summer vacation this Labor Day weekend.
For Grand Strand locals and out-of-town visitors alike, free festivals and fireworks shows are great ways to enjoy a long weekend. Check out these six Labor Day events around the Myrtle Beach area that shouldn’t be missed.
Gullah Geechee Heritage Festival
Friday, Aug. 29 through Sunday, Aug. 31, various times

Celebrate the culture and history of the Gullah Geechee people at the free heritage festival in Atlantic Beach. With a parade, a fun run, a cookoff competition, storytelling, live musical performances, games, vendors and more, there’s something for everyone. Although most festivities will take place Saturday, there will be additional events like a seminar and a silent auction on Friday and Sunday.
Waves of Praise Gospel Fest
Friday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m.

The free Waves of Praise festival is bringing two days of gospel music to downtown Myrtle Beach’s Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place. Live performers include Anthony Brown, the Walls Group, Tim Rogers and more. Visitors can bring lawn chairs and clear bags, but outside food and coolers are prohibited.
Hot Summer Nights Free Concert
Friday, Aug. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The final installment of Myrtle Beach’s free Hot Summer Nights concert series wraps Friday night at Plyler Park. Guests can bring lawn chairs and enjoy a live performance by Wilmington-based band Echoes of Heroes.
Broadway at the Beach Labor Day Weekend Entertainment and Fireworks Extravaganza
Friday, Aug. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 31 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Broadway at the Beach is celebrating Labor Day weekend with stilt walkers, fire dancing, juggling, character meet and greets, vocal performances and a variety show. The festivities will culminate with a fireworks extravaganza over Lake Broadway on Sunday at 10 p.m.
Barefoot Landing Labor Day Entertainment and Fireworks
Friday, Aug. 29; Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Barefoot Landing will host free live musical performances and a fireworks show for Labor Day weekend. Friday will feature Miracle Max and the Pet Monsters, Saturday will showcase Painted Man and on Sunday night McKinney and Co. will perform before a 10 p.m. fireworks show over the lake.
Surfside Beach End of Summer Fireworks Festival
Sunday, August 31 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

To celebrate the end of summer, Surfside Beach is launching fireworks at the town’s fishing pier. Visitors can also round out the summer season with a hula show, live music, arts and craft vendors, festival food, giveaways and a kids’ zone complete with foam, face painting and bounce houses. The pier parking lot will be closed, but free shuttle service will be available at other lots to and from the festival.
