Historic farm’s barn in Conway catches fire. Here’s what we know about damage
An educational barn at an historic Horry County farm was damaged after catching fire Tuesday evening.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the L.W. Paul Living History Farm, 2260 Short-Cut Road in Conway, about 6:14 p.m. The barn was on fire and sustained damage, a Facebook post said.
It appears most of the damage happened inside and there are current discussions about repairs for the barn, according to Horry County spokesperson Thomas Bell.
The post said there were no injuries and no animals were injured in the fire.
The Horry County Museum operates and maintains the farm. Bell said the barn was not historic and no historic artifacts, including the wagon that sat beside the barn, were damaged.
It is unclear what may have caused the fire.
The farm sits on 17 acres and depicts what life on a farm in Horry County would be like from 1900 to 1955. The museum offers tours and exhibits at the farm.
The land is a working farm, which includes gardens and fields plowed with working animals.
