‘It’s a hard market.’ Myrtle Beach area Italian restaurant is closing
Jiggy’s Bistro, a Myrtle Beach Italian restaurant located off of Highway 17 announced via social media that they’ll be shutting down their brick and mortar location.
“It is with great sadness I advise that my partners and I have decided to sell the Bistro,” a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page read. “We want to thank all of friends, loyal customers and family for their support the past 2 years.”
Over the phone on Friday, owner Holly DiFrancisco said it’s been hard staying open and not having community support or tourists.
“it’s just a hard market,” she said. “We had some of the neighborhood support, but you know, you need more than just your surrounding neighborhood and customer and businesses to support you.”
DiFrancisco said that tourists typically don’t eat at the non-big name restaurants when they’re in town.
“The tourists don’t support the smaller restaurants,” she said.
A subsequent post announced that the owners will be selling all of the furniture from the former restaurant.
The post said they will continue to operate CIAO Catering.
