For locals and visitors alike, summer in the Grand Strand means long days at the beach. But when the seaside is crowded, currents are rough or you’ve just had enough of the sand and waves, visiting a pool is a great alternative to beat the heat.

As the Myrtle Beach area braces for another summer heat wave, check out these local pools at hotels and community centers open to visitors with passes for a day, three days or a week.

Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA

5000 Claire Chapin Epps Drive Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

Visitors can purchase short-term access to the Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA facility for a day or a week to use the pool, sauna, fitness center, outdoor field and more. Kids under 12 get in for $5 a day or $15 a week, while those over the age of 12 can get day passes for $15 or week passes for $35.

Courtyard Myrtle Beach Barefoot Landing

1000 Commons Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

Visitors can rent a room at the Barefoot Landing Courtyard hotel just for the day. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests can get a room with a double bed and access to the indoor pool, hot tub and fitness center. Dayuse offers reservations on weekdays, with pre-tax prices of $69 from Monday through Thursday and $109 listings on Fridays.

The newly revamped Ellie Beach Resort offers three-day passes to its beach access, lazy river, indoor pools, adult pool and infinity pool with three water slides. Guests 16 and older can get in for $79, kids ages five to 15 get in for $39 and children under five get in for free.

Holiday Inn Resort Oceanfront at Surfside Beach by IHG

The Surfside Beach Holiday Inn offers day passes for access to the outdoor pool, hot tub, beach access and fitness center. According to the ResortPass booking page, Monday through Friday passes are $30 for adults, $20 for kids four to 17 years old and free for kids under four. On weekends, young children still get in for free, but adults are $40 per person and kids under 17 are $25 per person.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Myrtle Beach - North Kings Highway

4709 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

The North Kings Highway LaQuinta offers day bookings for rooms with two double beds. Day guests get access to the outdoor pool and fitness center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bookings are available on weekdays, with current listings for $89 per room Monday through Friday.

Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort South Beach

2207 S. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

With a pool day pass, visitors to the Sandcastle Resort can check out the lazy river, hot tub, oceanfront lawn and indoor and outdoor pools. ResortPass lists consistent prices everyday: $20 for those 16 and up, $10 for kids three to 15 years old and free admission for kids under three.

Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA

12965 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, SC 29585

The YMCA in Pawleys Island offers short-term facility passes with access to the pool, sauna, handball and racquetball courts, fitness center and more. Adults pay $15 a day or $60 a week, families pay $45 a day or $135 a week and kids can get in for $5 a day.
