It seems like everything is a little more crowded these days in the Myrtle Beach area.

That includes the roads, the beaches and even the stores. And it doesn’t appear that the migration to Horry County is stopping any time soon.

The county’s population has continued to grow over the last several years, bringing its total to nearly 400,000 residents in 2025 – almost double from where it was 10 years ago.

People are continuing plans to move to the area and the cities that make up the county.

Three cities in the county have made the list of the top 50 cities Americans are most interested in moving to this year, according to the U.S. News & World Report. The data is based on move searches on the internet during the first half of 2025.

After tracking migration interest or curiosity about living in a new state, online searches through June by U.S. residents showed a heavy focus on the South, the report said.

South Carolina was No. 1 in searches, followed by North Carolina. South Carolina proved popular for retirees because of its low property tax rates and tax exemptions for older adults, and its mild climate.

The report showed that Conway, Myrtle Beach and Little River ranked among the top 10 cities searched for possible moves. In addition, Calabash, North Carolina, just across the border from Little River, also made the top 10.

Myrtle Beach has great appeal for its miles of beaches and mild winters, as well its abundance of indoor and outdoor activities because of its booming tourism industry, the report said.

Conway, located about 15 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, is a historic, quaint town that doesn’t offer the hustle and bustle of the touristy city of Myrtle Beach, but still has many restaurants, stores and activities to offer.

Little River, while situated inland, is just a short drive to North Myrtle Beach, which is also a tourist hot spot and location for those moving to the area.
