Chance Huggins loved to hunt and fish. Carson Hatcher enjoyed playing music, especially his drums, and eating waffles with peanut butter and syrup.

The lives of Huggins and Hatcher were cut short July 13 when they were killed in an accident in the Aynor area. Officials say they died from injuries after their vehicle overturned and struck a house.

Huggins, 16, of Green Sea, died at the scene. Hatcher, 17, of the Aynor area, died later at a hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol released more details about the crash Friday, but the report didn’t include personal information about the two friends whose deaths have left family and friends heartbroken.

The two young men loved hanging out with friends, and left behind a number of family members, including their parents, according to their obituaries.

A message to their family members were not returned by publication.

Huggins was a junior at Green-Sea Floyds High School and was looking forward to starting a new school year, his obituary said. In addition to his love for the outdoors, the teen rode four-wheelers and could often be found tending to the yard on his lawnmower or tinkering on cars.

He also loved his dogs, Molly, Max and Doodle Bug. “His smile would light up the room,” the obituary said.

Hatcher often posted photos and videos of himself on Facebook playing music. He was a member of the Waccamaw Indian People, and performed as a grass dancer.

A die-hard Clemson Tiger fan, the 17-year-old appeared to have just gotten his driver’s license in April, posting a photo of himself holding it on his Facebook page.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, which occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Highway 19 in Aynor.

It appears Huggins was driving a Dodge truck north when it went off the road, struck a tree, overturned and then hit a house, Cpl. David Jones wrote in an email.
