Shark may have bitten NC swimmer, Sunset Beach Fire Department says
A swimmer in Sunset Beach may have been bitten by a shark Wednesday morning.
The Sunset Beach Fire Department responded to a possible shark attack around 11:05 a.m. near the 31st street beach access, according to a press release.
Beach Rescue personnel provided medical care to the injured swimmer who was conscious when emergency services arrived, the press release added.
The injured swimmer was transported to a medical care facility for evaluation and treatment, the press release continued.
“We encourage all visitors to be cautious,” the fire department wrote. “Marine life, including sharks, are natural inhabitants of these waters and it’s crucial to take precautions to minimize potential risks.”
