Update: Motorcyclist killed in overnight crash identified

A motorcycle driver was killed in an overnight deadly crash after running off the Frontage Road, south of Myrtle Beach, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Stacie Lynn Pannell, 45, of Myrtle Beach, died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

The fatal crash occurred about 3:15 a.m. and involved just a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, authorities said.

Collins said the driver was headed south on the Frontage Road south of Farrow Parkway when the motorcycle went off the right side of the road, struck a curb, then a cable box.

Pannell was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was killed, Collins said.

One passenger, who was also not wearing a helmet, was with the driver and was taken to a local hospital with injuries.

There was no information available on the passenger’s condition.

The SCHP is investigating the crash.
