One person killed, one injured in S.C. Highway 31 crash, Highway Patrol says

A Murrells Inlet man died, another person injured in a fatal collision in Horry County.

Richard Nicholson, 83, driving a 2009 Cadillac Sedan and another driver in a 2024 Dodge Ram van were traveling South on S.C. Highway 31 near International Drive when they collided around 1:30 p.m. on May 19.

Nicholson sustained fatal injuries after crashing into a tree.

The 2024 Dodge Ram van driver was transported to a local hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating this incident.

SCHP Corporal Nick Pye advised anyone with information about the fatalities to contact the Horry County Coroner’s Office at 843-915-5110, according to an email.
