A popular sports bar in the Little River community known for live music and dancing is back.

The Dirty Armadillo Bar and Grille opened its doors again after closing due to structural issues in late 2023.

Located at 2551 Highway 17 near the North Carolina state line, the bar greeted visitors for the first time in over a year and a half with food, drinks and live music.

Loyal patrons have been waiting for the reopening. The Dirty Armadillo first posted renovation pictures in December 2023, and last August, it announced on Facebook that the property owner had completed work.

The sports bar initially anticipated a December 2024 reopening, but the permitting process slowed the timeline.

“We still have a ways to go on the refit, but this is a huge step forward,” The Dirty Armadillo posted on social media at the time.

The Dirty Armadillo is open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight. To celebrate its return, the bar is hosting live music on Saturday, May 17 from Jeff Simmons and Co. with no cover charge.
