A song from comedy band On Company Time and comedian Kyle Gordon celebrating Myrtle Beach as a top destination for divorced dads is going viral.

“Won’t you come on down to a top-12-rated town? There’s a Ferris wheel and a Margaritaville,” say the lyrics. “Butt-naked at the swim-up bar, now we’re banned from the swim-up bar, and piña coladas.”

“Myrtle Beach” features a recently divorced man, played by Gordon, joining three divorced friends for a Labor Day vacation.

Dubbed a “beach anthem for the trashiest beach in America” on Gordon’s TikTok, the music video showcases quintessential tourist spots including the SkyWheel, Family Kingdom and Margaritaville.

Ringless and clad in tropical shirts, the group plays mini golf, poses with racy shot glasses at a beachwear store, rides a water slide and dances at the beach.

“We got our flip-flops on and our bunions taped and our ex-wives gone and a buffet plate … Women, shopping, soaking up the sun and we haven’t seen our kids in months,” the song says.

In less than a week, the video has garnered more than 140,000 views on YouTube and one TikTok clip has amassed nearly 700,000 views with more than 570 comments.

But despite the song’s name, divorced dads seem to be the spark of inspiration.

“So you know how there’s divorced dad rock?” On Company Time member Vinny LoCasto said in a TikTok. “Why hasn’t anybody made a song about the divorced dads?”

Gordon commented, dubbing Myrtle Beach a mecca for divorced dads.

Time will tell whether Myrtle Beach embraces the song, but the city seems to be into the joke. Spokesperson Meredith Denari told The Sun News she found the video funny.

“Myrtle Beach is a place for everyone, and we’re glad these guys came and had a good time,” Denari said. “Myrtle Beach is a top vacation destination and one of the top places people are moving to, so it’s not surprising they came here to create a video with friends.”
