A bout of rain pushed back the start time for the Myrtle Beach Classic, although it will remain wet for most of the day.

Tee times were to start at 10:40 a.m. Buses began running at 8:30 a.m. and doors opened at 9 a.m., according to the PGA website and Craig Smith with the Myrtle Beach Classic in an email.

Carson Young is leading the scoreboard with 200 strokes, followed by Harry Higgs with 201 and Mackenzie Hughes with 202.

The rain started on Saturday and will continue throughout the week, said National Weather Service meteorologist Ian Boatman.

Rain will be steady until 10 or 11 a.m. and then become spotty the rest of the day, with heavy rain possible, Boatman said. The lightning has moved on for the morning but may return in the afternoon.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 60s in the morning and lower 70s in the afternoon.

Boatman said the rain will continue through Tuesday before starting to dry out on Wednesday.
