Horry County motorcycle officer seriously injured in crash. On-duty officer hit stopped car
An Horry County Police motorcycle officer was injured in a crash Thursday.
The officer, whose name has not been released, was transported to an area hospital after the two-vehicle crash near Red Bluff Road and Sandpiper Road in the Loris area.
Horry County spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said by text Friday that the “officer’s name is not currently available for release” because they are undergoing emergency medical treatments.
The officer, who was driving a 2022 Harley-Davidson while on duty, was traveling south on Red Bluff Road when he struck the rear of a 2025 Kia SUV, according to Cpl. David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The SUV was stopped in traffic, Jones said by text.
The officer sustained significant injuries. The SUV driver was uninjured.
Moksov said the officer is in stable condition.
The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
“There will be a long road to healing ahead, and we appreciate your support in this time,” according to a Facebook post from Horry County Police Department.
