Popular section of Myrtle Beach boardwalk closed. Fire crews on the scene. What we know
A gas leak closed a section of Myrtle Beach’s boardwalk Sunday.
Police and fire crews shut down the boardwalk from the SkyWheel to the Gay Dolphin.
Several Myrtle Beach Fire Department members were standing outside Moe Moon’s, 918 N. Ocean Blvd., restaurant near Plyler Park, but it is unclear where the leak is coming from.
The boardwalk was reopened about 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
People and employees of boardwalk businesses were being directed to walk along the beach in order to get onto the boardwalk.
The closure comes after an overnight shooting in the same area that apparently involved multiple people, including an officer.
The section of North Ocean Boulevard remains closed Sunday morning as police investigate the shooting.
