Saray Benezra will be shifting her custom cake and pastry business into a larger venture – opening her first brick-and-mortar bakery in Myrtle Beach.

Benezra operates Cakes By Saray, making homemade cakes, pastries and bread for events, birthdays and weddings. She opened the business in 2020.

The new bakery will be Saray Bakery and Patisserie, located at 4811-B North Kings Highway. Benezra and her husband, Mike, said they hope to have the new bakery open in about a month.

Benezra has wanted to open her own bakery for some time, said her husband, adding that only so much can be done when filling custom orders. The bakery will provide enough space for many pastry and cake items to be sold.

Mike Benezra said his wife is always creating desserts, something he has taken advantage of.

“I do eat them,” Mike Benezra said. “I don’t need to tell you (that) if you would see my stomach.”

Benezra, who has a pastry degree from Horry-Georgetown Technical College, said on her website that she has “always found myself in the kitchen, baking” from childhood into adulthood.

The couple has entirely redone the outside, as well as the inside, of the building.

Before becoming a bakery, the space was used for a knitting business.
