A new bar and restaurant has opened in Surfside Beach, locating in a spot that formerly housed a popular eatery.

Griffin’s P.H., 813 Surfside Drive, is currently in its soft opening, according to a manager who answered the phone.

Griffin’s opened in the former Borgata of Surfside location, which announced its closure in January 2025. The bar had been in the location – well-known for its iconic beachy mural of the lady in the hat on the side of the building – for more than seven years before closing.

The manager said a grand opening has not been set yet, as the bar is in the process of getting menu items and other matters in order.

The restaurant currently serves lunch and dinner, with such menu items as salads, appetizers, subs and burgers.

Drinks include fresh squeezed lemonade, and eventually other cocktails once the business receives its liquor license.

The bar has an upstairs game room with pinball games.

The outside patio also remains as a dining option with the view of the “Surfside Beach” mural.
