New Murrells Inlet pizza shop to open in former Uncle Mikey’s. Here’s when it will open
A new pizza restaurant is set to open in the former Uncle Mikey’s Pizza which closed at the beginning of this year.
And while the owner of the Murrells Inlet spot took the Uncle Mikey’s name with him when he retired, the new pizzeria apparently will still keep the “Mikey” moniker.
Mikey’s Pizzeria is set to open some time in the next month, according to Sammy Zalloum, who was recently cleaning and helping with renovations at the location at 4378 Highway 17 Business.
Dozens of chairs lined the front porch of the business and construction trucks were outside in the parking lot.
A handwritten sign on the window says the pizzeria will open soon.
The location was formerly operated by Zalloum’s brother, Mike Zalloum, who sold the business and retired in January 2025 after more than 24 years in business.
The owner of the new business was not on site. But Sammy Zalloum said that the restaurant will continue to serve the same menu items as Uncle Mikey’s, including brick oven pizza.
