Collectibles store closing in downtown Conway. Items on sale as owner looks for new spot
A Conway collectibles store is closing its doors.
Pickers and Grinners, located at 1119 3rd Ave., has announced its shutting its doors, advertising that everything in the store is on sale - from 10% to 50% off.
Rosen’s store is filled with collectibles, such as neon signs, camera equipment, fire trucks, furniture, vintage glass and dishware, and other toys and action figures.
Closing his store wasn’t something Robert Rosen had planned. The store has been open less than a year. However, his landlord recently told him that the building had been sold and that the tenants had 30 days to move out. His last day will be at the end of March, Rosen said.
The owner of the building, John Cassidy, said Friday that the building had not been sold. There are currently eight other tenants in the building, he said.
“I love Conway. I wanted to stay in Conway,” Rosen said.
Rosen has been searching for a new location in downtown Conway but has been unable to find a place to rent. He is hopeful he will find a new spot before closing his doors.
His current location is located right along the busy 3rd Avenue in downtown, next to the restaurant Crafty Rooster and newly opened Anto’s Pizza.
The 66-year-old took half his retirement money to open the store last year. March would have made one year since the store opened.
Right now, Rosen is trying to sell as much as he can and then place the rest in storage until he can find another place.
“My heart is breaking,” Rosen said. “I won’t let myself cry.”
