A car crash Monday night along U.S. 17 in the Myrtle Beach area left three people, including a 6-year-old girl, dead.

Jean Carlos Porfirio de Aquino, 26; Kamyla Lucas de Aquino, 30; and Maria Eduarda Lucas De Souza, 6, died from injures they received in a crash on Highway 17 Bypass near Wood Thrush Drive, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden by email.

The family had recently relocated to the Myrtle Beach area from Hyannis, Massachusetts, McSpadden said. Jean and Kamyla are originally from Brazil.

The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. when a Ford Crown Victoria headed north on U.S. 17 hit a Kia attempting to cross the highway from a private driveway, said Cpl. David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol in a release.

The Kia had three passengers, two of which died on scene. The third was brought to the hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries, Jones said. The Crown Victoria had four passengers who were all brought to the hospital with injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
