Over 1,700 people in the Longs area had a power outage Tuesday morning.

A car ran into the tension wire of a power pole causing the outage, according to a Facebook post from Horry Electric Cooperative media contact. Crews will remove the car and then work to bring power back, the post said.

Horry Electric Cooperative restored power at 9:40 a.m.

The outage impacted the area surrounding S.C. 9 from S.C. 905 to Loris.

This outage happened a week after nearly 27,000 people lost power in the Myrtle Beach area. A man driving a van ran into a power pole the morning after freezing rain fell on the area, The Sun News reported.
