A driver died Saturday after he hit multiple mailboxes, turned over in a ditch and was ejected from the car outside the Conway area.

At about 7:30 a.m., 40-year-old Robin Richardson was driving his pickup truck north on Beverly Road when he drove off the left side of the road, hitting several mailboxes and a fence, Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said in a release.

The Conway man then veered toward the right where his car began “flipping several times” and was ejected, said Tamara Willard, a deputy coroner with Horry County.

Richardson was brought to the Conway Medical Center where he died at 8:34 a.m. It’s unclear why he lost control of the vehicle.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
