Valentine’s Day turned deadly when a person died in a mobile home fire in Loris.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded at 8:51 a.m. Friday to a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Highway 66, according to a Facebook post.

A mobile home sustained heavy fire damage and Highway 66 was closed for nearly two hours while crews worked at the scene.

Jonathan Hammond, 45, was pulled from his home as fire crews worked to extinguish the fire, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard by email. Hammond died on scene.

The cause of this fire is under investigation, the post said.
