From mild to wild. Leave the kids at home for these adult-only spots in Myrtle Beach area

Going to the beach is most often a family affair, which is why thousands of parents and children make their way to Myrtle Beach each year.

But let’s be honest, sometimes you need some time away from the kids time to do adult things with other adults.

We understand.

Whether you are booking an adults-only vacation or just spending a night out, here are some options that are only open to those age 21 and over.

Duck’s Night Life

Duck’s on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach has been a staple in the coastal city since the 1980s and is among some of the longstanding shag dancing hotspots.

Many shag dance events are held at the club throughout the year.

Duck’s is two connected businesses, with Duck’s Cafe at 231 Main St. on one side and Duck’s Night Life, 229 Main St., on the other.

There is live entertainment on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and you should expect to dance even if you can’t shag. The club doesn’t open until 8 p.m. – after most kids are put to bed.

Duck’s Cafe and Nightlife on Main Street in the Ocean Drive section of North Myrtle Beach has new owners. Dwayne and Robin porter moved from Shelby, N.C. and were looking to buy a bar. “We learned real quick that this was not a bar, it’s a family,” Dwayne Porter said of the popular north strand club. Tasting Room on 9th

This relatively new upscale wine bar and cocktail lounge is located in a renovated historical building in downtown Myrtle Beach’s Arts & Innovation District.

The spot at 509 9th Ave. N. serves wine, craft cocktails and international beer, along with food curated by chef Jamie Daskalis that includes charcuterie boards, freshly baked bread and shrimp and clams and can be paired with different wines.

It’s a perfect spot to spend time with just two, or a group of friends.

Comedy Cabana

OK, you don’t have to be 21 to come here, but there is still an age limit. Those ages 15 to 17 are allowed, but only with an adult. That’s because most of the comedians’ performances contain adult humor.

And there are a lot of great comedians, including big-name performers and comedy headliners that come on special nights at the club located at 9588 N. Kings Highway.

The two-hour show usually has three comedians who perform.

Duplin Winery

It’s a chance to unwind after a day of work, shopping or lounging at the beach. The winery is the maker of Muscadine wine and offers wine tastings at its location, 4650 Highway 17 S. in North Myrtle Beach.

The tastings allow participants to sample about 10 pre-selected Duplin wines while an associate talks about the flavors and the history of each wine. The tastings also include food items.

You can take your glass of wine and sit on the winery’s porch or other outside areas and enjoy the sun or beach breeze.

88 Keys Piano Bar

Connected to one of the longstanding upscale restaurants in Myrtle Beach, The Library, it only makes sense that the 88 Keys Piano Bar also caters to a more refined crowd.

The piano bar 6613 N. Kings Highway, offers live music from Wednesday through Saturday nights by some of the region’s best piano players who know hundreds of songs.

Couples retreat

There are not any adult-only hotels in the Myrtle Beach area, but this Airbnb could be an alternative, especially for those who seek to spice things up.

The description for this oceanfront room doesn’t indicate the room’s intention, but the pictures tell a different story. The bed has straps with cuffs and an adult intimacy swing sits in the middle of the room. There are other items that also set the mood, such as a fireplace.

The condo room is for two guests and is located in Myrtle Beach. In addition to other amenities mentioned, the description also adds, “for this property, we actually required that the cleaners take classes to know how to properly clean and sanitize every single item in the room.”
