Update: Coroner names person who died in crash near Surfside Beach. Here’s what we know

A Monday morning car crash near Surfside Beach resulted in one person dying from their injuries several days later.

The crash happened along S.C. 707 near Brighton Avenue about 10:30 a.m., said Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A Hyundai Tucson was driving south along S.C. 707 when it traveled to the center lane, hitting a Ford Fusion that was stopped facing north, Butler said.

The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai died from their injuries on Feb. 12. The driver and passenger in the Ford were not injured in the crash.

Barry Moser, 80, of Myrtle Beach, died at a local hospital, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden by email.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
