A well-known oceanfront hotel in Myrtle Beach closed with a new nationally branded location set to take its place.

The Sea Dip Oceanfront Resort at 2608 North Ocean Blvd. announced its closure on Facebook, and the property sold. Recognizable for its sign featuring a diver jumping into the water and an advertisement for “Color TV,” the hotel thanked its longtime customers while announcing its closure.

“As they say...one door closes and another door opens. We are looking forward to our next journey,” the hotel wrote in its Facebook post announcing the closure. “Thank you to all of the wonderful guests that have allowed our family to serve you. We have made a lot of really good friends and made a lot of wonderful memories.”

The Sea Dip added in its Facebook post that the Drury Hotels chain purchased the property and “will add their new building to our Myrtle Beach skyline.” According to Horry County Land Records, the Drury Development Corporation purchased the Sea Dip for $9.5 million Feb. 7, 2025.

Drury Hotel’s media inquiry team did not return a request for comment before publication. Drury has two hotels in Charleston and Greenville, South Carolina, but no Myrtle Beach location.
