A Conway woman became a little richer, all because she was having a rough day.

The woman decided to purchase a lottery ticket at another store because the first store she drove to was too crowded.

Her decision resulted in a $374,000 jackpot by purchasing the winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery in a release.

“You honestly don’t think these things are going to happen to you,” the woman told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

The ticket was a quick pick from the Shree 701 on Main Street in Conway. The store was just down the road from the first store she originally stopped at.

However, the woman didn’t check her ticket until the next day at work and realized all of the numbers matched.

“I must have looked at it five times,” she said. “It was mind blowing.”

She’s saving the prize for retirement, the release said.

It appears she bought the ticket last year, but just recently claimed it. Lottery officials released a statement in September 2024 searching for the winner.

For selling the claimed ticket, Shree 701 in Conway received a commission of $1,600, the release said.
