Along U.S. 17 in Little River, heavy machinery sat on a small tract of land ready for work. The location is near the Dunkin’ Donuts and Twelve 33 Distillery along U.S. 17

As is typical with development projects, a sign facing the road announced that Atlas Construction of SC, Inc. did the site work. The construction is part of an ongoing project that could prove helpful for drivers traveling along one of the Grand Strand’s busiest roads.

Horry County Land Records show that a gas station will open on the land at the intersection of Golf Ave and U.S. 17. In November 2024, the plot received permits for a gas station and fuel system. According to Horry County Records, Quality Oil Company LLC owns the land. Based in Winston-Salem, N.C., Quality Oil owns numerous gas stations throughout the state and one location in Conway, S.C.

It’s unclear when the new gas station will open to the public. Quality Oil’s Vice President of Marketing Michael Robb, did not return a request for comment before publication. Quality Oil bought the 1.7-acre tract of land and the 1.6-acre plot next to it in March 2024.

Horry County Land Records also shows that Quality Oil Company LLC paid a combined $1.3 million for the two tracts of land.
