Want to go sledding during the winter storm in Myrtle Beach? Here’s where to get one
With a winter storm expected to bring the rare sight of snow to the Myrtle Beach area, many might look for activities to maximize the fleeting opportunity.
The National Weather Service forecasts two to three inches of snow falling along much of the Grand Strand between Jan. 21-24, 2025. One way many residents will take advantage of the snowfall is by sledding, and there are several ways to obtain one before the flakes start falling.
North Myrtle Beach Wholesale at 2227 Highway Nine East in Longs sells sleds for kids. Floor Manager Tracey Stone told The Sun News in a Jan. 21, 2025, interview that the store sells small sleds for kids or people under 150 pounds shaped like snowmen or penguins. Called ‘snow buddies,’ North Myrtle Beach Wholesale’s Facebook lists the sleds for sale at eight dollars plus tax.
The oncoming winter storm increased demand for sleds. Stone said people quickly bought up the store’s inventory of larger sleds, and the store sold out.
“I was shocked,” Stone said. “They sold awfully fast, and it was unexpected because they’re not a product that was moving otherwise.”
She also said the store will try to re-stock. Stone added that generators are popular, as some buyers are in “panic mode” regarding the incoming storm.
It’s not the only North Myrtle Beach store selling sleds. The Super Deals Discount Store, located at 1615 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach near Azalea Sands Golf Club, also listed sleds for sale on its Facebook page Jan. 18, 2025.

Sleds are also available on social media. Myrtle Beach area Facebook users listed sleds for sale with prices ranging from $12 to more than $100.
For those who don’t want to buy a new sled for one-time use, alternative ways exist to enjoy the incoming winter storm and potential snow. Stone said that pool floats or inner tubes are suitable substitutes for sleds.
“If people want to be creative, that’s another way,” Stone added.
