Myrtle Beach closing streets for MLK parade. How it’ll impact traffic and what will close

In celebration of the late social rights activist Martin Luther King Jr., the city of Myrtle Beach will host a parade Saturday morning, shutting down several streets.

Here’s what to expect and how it will impact traffic during the parade.

Staging for the parade will happen along Chester Street, Withers Drive and 15th Avenue North near the Chapin Memorial Library. These streets will close at 7 a.m., said Myrtle Beach spokesman Patrick Lloyd in a text to The Sun News.

The parade, which begins at 10 a.m., will run along Ocean Boulevard from 15th Avenue North to 8th Avenue North. These streets will close at 9:45 a.m. and will remain closed until the end of the parade, which is expected around noon, Lloyd said.

Myrtle Beach’s Martin Luther King Jr. Parade will start at 10 a.m. on Jan. 18. The route will run along Ocean Boulevard from 15th Avenue North to 8th Avenue North.
