A waterfront North Myrtle Beach restaurant is undergoing renovations. What will change?
Along the Intracoastal Waterway next to the Cherry Grove Marina, one of North Myrtle Beach’s well-known restaurants is undergoing significant changes to its interior.
Renovations have started at Captain Archie’s at 2200 Little River Neck Road. Billy Riggs manages the restaurant.
In a Jan. 10, 2025, Riggs said work focused on the interior of the building, and work had already started.
“Everything will be brand new,” he said. Riggs added the work won’t impact restaurant hours or the menu.
The restaurant is raising the floor of the inside bar area to match the rest of the eatery, eliminating the need for steps with improved air conditioning, too. It will expand from 16 seats to 28 and change from a horseshoe-style layout to one more conducive to customer interaction.
“The bar that was there was fine back in the 80s and 90s,” Riggs said. “This one will be like an elongated octagon to where there are more sides to the bar. So it makes it more attractive to talk with your neighbors.”
Riggs also said the restaurant will add new bar tops. While the inside will look different, Riggs said the updates will maintain the eatery’s nautical theme. The front of the building will also change. New features include an enlarged front deck and a glass-covered atrium that provides more light.
“Your outside dining, your waterway view will again be enhanced from that,” he added.
The changes also extend past the bar seating.
Riggs added that the restaurants’ draft beer selection will increase from five to about 20. He said that restaurantgoers today want more choices than in previous generations.
“I’m still a Natural Light guy,” he said.
While the renovation will change the restaurant, Riggs added the restaurant that it won’t impact parking. The eatery shares a parking lot with the nearby Cherry Grove Marina, and Riggs said the remodel wouldn’t impact parking.
“The parking will stay as good as it’s going to get,” he said.
The renovations should wrap up by the first week of March. Riggs added that the restaurant plans to celebrate its completion at the end of March in conjunction with its 10th anniversary.
“Just a weekend-long celebration of the time that we’ve spent there and the things that we enjoy doing,” He said.
