Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a car crash on Dec. 6 outside Loris. A person later died from injuries sustained in the collision.

One person died after being in a car accident involving three vehicles outside Loris earlier in December.

On Dec. 6 around 11:30 a.m., a Chevrolet SUV driving south struck a Ford pickup parked along Red Bluff Road near Macedonia Drive, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The SUV hit the back of the pickup, which caused the SUV to overturn and hit a ditch. The pickup also ran into a mailbox. A third vehicle, a Hyundai sedan also driving south on Red Bluff Road, hit debris from the accident.

One of the drivers involved became trapped, had to be extracted and was taken to the hospital, Horry County Fire Rescue said in a social media post. It’s not clear which driver was trapped, but later, the SUV driver died from injuries sustained in the car accident.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the person who died. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Loris Police Department are investigating the crash.

EMS also took the other drivers to the hospital who were treated for minor injuries. There were no other passengers.
