The 5 best ways to ring in the New Year around Myrtle Beach, SC
With 2025 just weeks away, it’s almost time to say farewell to 2024. No matter how you like to celebrate, the Grand Strand offers something for everyone this New Year’s Eve.
From classic fireworks and ball drops to blowout parties, here are the best ways to ring in the new year around Myrtle Beach.
Celebrate with fireworks
If you want to kick off the new year with a bang, visit one of the Grand Strand’s dazzling fireworks displays. Barefoot Landing’s fireworks show over the lake begins at 7 p.m. and Broadway at the Beach will start its New Year’s Eve Fireworks Extravaganza over Lake Broadway at 8 p.m.
Later in the night, Conway’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display in the charming Downtown Riverfront District will deploy at midnight. The lawn opens to visitors at 10:30 p.m. and you can get in the party spirit before the actual show by tailgating in the adjacent parking area.
Eat, drink and be merry
If cooking is the last thing on your mind during the holidays, visit the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk for festive food and drink specials at Bovine’s, The Claw House, Creek Ratz, Dead Dog Saloon, Drunken Jack’s, Neptune Bistro, Raw Bar, Wahoo’s and The Wicked Tuna. After dinner, you can take a walk down the boardwalk and enjoy live music on the waterfront.
Watch the ball drop
If your favorite part of New Year’s Eve is the countdown to midnight, check out the ball drop at The Market Common’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. The Southern Times Square New Year’s Eve starts at 9 p.m. and will feature live music from local group Painted Man Band, food trucks, alcoholic beverages and more. The family-friendly event will also feature a Kids’ Corner with inflatables, face painting and more.
The event originally also advertised a holiday drone show, but according to an email from a Market Common spokesperson, “due to unforeseen safety restrictions, the planned drone show will not take place this year.”
Tickets, which are required for entry, will be distributed at The Market Common Management Office at 4017 Deville Street on Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. To get tickets, you must present a receipt for a purchase of $25 or more from a Market Common business between Dec. 26 and Dec. 31.
Get fancy
If you want to support the arts and enjoy an extravagant party, the Long Bay Symphony is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve Gala. The black-tie-optional party will feature cocktails, dinner, dancing and a silent auction at the Palisades Ballroom adjacent to the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.
Tickets can be purchased online here and will run you $225 for a standard gala ticket and $275 for a VIP ticket. Each ticket contributes $50 directly to the Long Bay Symphony.
Party the night away
If New Year’s Eve brings out your inner party animal, you can dance the night away at The Hard Rock Cafe or 3001 Nightlife.
The Hard Rock Cafe at Broadway at the Beach’s New Year’s celebration will feature live music from local group Chocolate Chip and Company. If you go on an empty stomach, you can enjoy a three-course meal with entree options like baby back ribs and grilled salmon for $55, or you can skip dinner and purchase general admission for $20. All tickets include complimentary soft drinks and a champagne toast at midnight.
You can also dance the night away at 3001 Nightlife’s New Year Party. The cover charge is $75 but if you purchase advanced tickets online you can get entry every night from Dec. 27 through Dec. 31. The club, which features three venues, will have live performances each night. On New Year’s Eve, Tim Clark will perform at Club Rewind, Tim Elliott will perform at Bourbon Cowboy and Envy Nightlife will have a guest DJ.
