An Atlantic Beach soul food restaurant has closed its doors.

C & G’s Soul Food at 413 31st Ave. S announced on its Facebook page that the restaurant has closed “effectively immediately.”

An email sent to the business was not immediately returned.

“The decision to close was not made lightly. After careful consideration of our financial situation and the business climate, we have determined that it’s in our best interest to close the business,” the post said.

The restaurant has been open for five years and served such dishes as catfish, jambalaya, oxtails, turkey wings, fried chicken, chicken bog and fried fish. In addition, it was known for its many different cakes.
