Have we set record for summer-like temps in Myrtle Beach? Here’s how long it will last
The weather outside for the Myrtle Beach area is reminiscent of summer, despite it being fall and late October.
Wednesday’s high is forecasted to be 79 degrees, which is just slightly lower than the record temperature of 83 that was set in 1991 in North Myrtle Beach, according to Ian Boatman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Boatman said residents can expect to the see the same temperatures for Thursday, which is Halloween, and Friday before it begins to cool off and get back to the normal temperature of mid-70s for this time of year.
Cloud cover from the ocean, along with cooler water and sea breeze, will suppress the temperatures from reaching the record, Boatman said.
As far as rain, don’t expect that any time soon, Boatman said. While there was a trace of showers Tuesday in the area, the future forecast shows that things will be “bone dry,” he said.
In fact, the Myrtle Beach area has only received .08 inches of rain for the month, according to the last measurement on Oct. 27.
