Update: Drowning victim on SC beach named. Rescue crews recovered the swimmer’s body

Rescue crews recovered the body of a missing swimmer Thursday off Pawleys Island.

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted the woman, and a Midway Fire Rescue jet ski team recovered the body following a 90-minute search, according to a press release sent about 6:02 p.m. from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway identified the swimmer who drowned as Lili Ho, 22, of Virginia.

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Marine Units assisted in the search along with Pawleys Island Police Department.

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Marine Units joined the search for the woman who was last seen in the ocean, according to the press release.

Midway Fire Rescue reported that it was on the scene near 152 Atlantic Ave.

Deputies reported that a male swimmer was helped from the surf by Pawleys Island Police and said there was a woman swimming with him. She is described as Asian, in her early 20s and wearing a pink bathing suit, the release said.

Pawleys Island Police deployed a jet ski and were joined by drones from the Sheriff’s Office and Midway Fire Rescue.
