Cold weather not normal for Grand Strand. Can you expect frost and will it warm back up?
Horry County residents woke up to cold temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, about a 15-degree drop from normal temperatures in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the National Weather Service.
The cooler temperatures are not normal for this time of year and overall October has seen below normal temperatures, according to meteorologist Bob Bright with the NWS in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The breezy conditions have not helped the chill factor.
You can expect the cold temps to last at least until Sunday, when the weather is expected to inch closer to normal temperatures with a high of mid-70s.
Thursday it’s expected to be a high of 65 degrees and a low of 40 degrees. Friday will have much the same with a high of 69 degrees and a low of 44 degrees.
The low temperatures could cause frost in some areas of Horry County, but it will be a small chance, Bright said.
The area is also not expected to get rain any time soon, Bright said. The Myrtle Beach area has not seen “rain in quite a while,” Bright said, and he doesn’t expect rain for at least another week.
The area is on track to seeing the driest month on record, he said.
