With a cool front coming in from the north, it has the Myrtle Beach area starting to feel like fall, creating the prime weather for autumn events.

Highs will be in the 60s on Oct. 15, 16 and 17, with highs in the 70s most of the other days, according to The Weather Channel.

Here’s what to do to revel in the fall.

Get lost in a corn maze

Thompson Farm and Nursery, 100 Brickyard Place, Conway, offers an autumn wonderland for the entire family through the first weekend of November. The biggest draw is the 6-acre corn maze, but there’s also farm animals to meet, a giant corn box and a barrel cart ride.

On Fridays, the farm also shows Halloween movies outside, including “The Haunted Mansion” on Oct. 18 and “Hocus Pocus” on Oct. 25. Events will run through Nov. 3.

The farm is open 5 to 10 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $15 plus a service fee.

Pick out a jack-o-lantern at a pumpkin patch

A trip to Aynor and you will find Southern Palmetto Farms, 2601 Garner Road, which has a pumpkin patch set up through October. The farm will also have a corn maze, wagon rides and pig racing.

Southern Palmetto Farms is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $12 to enter with a $5 add-on to visit Miss Em’s Magical Pumpkin Patch. Pigs race at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Be scared silly walking around downtown Conway

Conway is renamed Halloween for the month of October and works hard to live up to the name. The downtown has been decorated with hundreds of skeletons and other spooky creatures for people to delight in.

The displays are set up outside and accessible 24 hours a day. Highlights include a haunted pirate ship in the city harbor, a tunnel of bones and a garden RUN. Businesses downtown have also joined in on the fun, adding decorations to their shops and restaurants.

Visit a farmers market

If walking around a pumpkin patch sounds like too much work, pick up a gourd at a farmers market.

  • North Myrtle Beach has a farmers market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays next to the library, 925 1st Ave. South through Oct. 25.
  • Conway’s farmers market is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of Laurel Street and 2nd Avenue every Saturday through Oct. 26.
  • The Market Common farmers market at Valor Park is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday through Oct. 26.
  • Surfside Beach Farmers Market at the corner of Surfside and Will drives is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays until Oct. 29.

Gourds, apples, leafy greens such as arugula and lettuce and muscadine grapes, are among the many produce items in season for October, according to the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
