A car wash in the Myrtle Beach area is for sale.

Car washes are a growing business in the Grand Strand with many opening within the last year.

Whistle Express Car Wash at 8671 US 17 Bypass South in Surfside Beach is for sale and listed on the commercial real estate platform LoopNet. According to the listing, the asking price is about $6.9 million.

A regional car wash chain with businesses throughout the Carolinas, the location opened last year within the previous year. The posting went on LoopNet Sept. 18, 2024, last updated Oct. 8, 2024.

Trinity Partners Partner Lakin Parr represents the property on LoopNet and said that the car wash industry is growing and is an investment tool for buyers.

“There are still a lot of markets where car washes can come in on a 45,000 vehicle per day road,” Parr added. “You can put them on other sides of the street, and they don’t affect each other because people just want to do the right in, right out. They don’t want to cut left to cross heavy traffic.”

The Sun News reported in November 2023 that the number of car washes could grow as the broader industry embraces adding businesses closer to one another.

Dozens of car washes service the Myrtle Beach area, with several more slated to open in the near future.

“I don’t see it slowing down,” Parr said. “With all the home development, especially in the Myrtle Beach area. I know of a lot more car washes being built.”
