How do you feel about the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball team?

We’ve created this reader poll to gauge community responses and see how people feel while the team undergoes contract negotiations with the City of Myrtle Beach and Horry County.

According to land records, the city owns 70% of the stadium and the county owns 30%.

In order for the Pelicans to stay in the Myrtle Beach area for future seasons, the city and county need to come to an agreement about stadium renovations that would keep the current stadium in line with Minor League Baseball’s requirements.

The Pelicans currently pay $150,000 annually in rent, the city’s spokeswoman Meredith Denari wrote in an email previously. The city spends about $240,000 maintaining the stadium, at 1251 21st Ave. N., in downtown Myrtle Beach, she said to The Sun News via email.

The team’s owners and representatives from Minor League Baseball have not returned The Sun News’s phone calls about the negotiations and the future of the team.

Negotiations remain ongoing as of Tuesday morning.
