Update: The electricity is back on in the Murrells Inlet area, where earlier Sunday over 2,100 people lost power.

Horry Electric Cooperative lost power around 4:30 p.m., according to its website and was restored by 6:45 p.m., said Jennifer Cummings, an Horry Electric spokesperson, in a text to The Sun News.

The outage was caused by a failed piece of electronic equipment.

When the power was out, temperatures were in the 80s with humidity hovering around 73%, according to the National Weather Service.
