South Carolina has this one piece of legislation that separates the state from the northern neighbor, North Carolina.
And it has to do with motorcycle helmets.
According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, anyone over the age of 21-years-old isn’t required to wear a helmet or a face shield or goggles while riding a motorcycle.
Riders who are under 21 are mandated to wear both helmets and face shields or goggles, according to state law.
This legislation differs drastically from South Carolina’s northern neighbor, North Carolina.
State statutes provided by the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles said all operators of motorcycles and mopeds are required to wear helmets, with no exceptions.
The Myrtle Beach area is currently preparing for the 25th Fall Bike Week, which begins at the end of September.
The official dates for the 2024 Fall Myrtle Beach Bike Rally are from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6, the event’s website states.
According to a release from the event’s spokesman, Spider Webb, they expect this year’s rally to attract over 100,000 attendees to the Grand Strand.
