Renovation work happening on former steak house in Conway. What is coming to the space?
Renovation work has begun on the former Eugenia’s Steak & Seafood in Conway, which closed in 2023.
It has been speculated online what might be coming to the space at 1650 Church St.
A message to owner Keith Benton Sr. was not returned on Friday.
A visit to the former restaurant Friday showed that the inside is being stripped down and being separated into smaller areas instead of one large space. The sign for the restaurant has also been removed.
The space is being redeveloped to allow for several businesses to lease space inside the building, according to a construction worker on site.
It is unclear when the work will be completed and when the space will be available for lease. It is not known whether another food business will open in one of the spaces.
The restaurant was open for more than a year before suddenly closing on Dec. 31, 2023.
Benton owned the eatery, whose company, Benton Rentals LLC, still owns the property, according to Horry County Land Records. Benton Rentals LLC bought the property in 2015.
