Sun News voters have selected their high school football Player of the Week for Sept. 2, 2024.

Three athletes from Horry and Georgetown County schools received nominations from their coaches for their performances during Week 1 of the South Carolina High School League season.

The winner of Week One is Waccamaw High School quarterback Andre Grate, who went 5/6 passing for 115 yards and two touchdowns in the Warriors’ 37-27 loss to Hannah-Pamplico High School.

The Sun News will again hold votes for Horry and Georgetown County Player of the Week for Week Two of the SCHSL football season. Voting begins Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, and runs until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024.

These polls are not scientific but an opportunity to showcase talented athletes across the Grand Strand.
