Rescue crews are expected to continue their search of the ocean Sunday for a swimmer who went missing Saturday evening.

At least two people began to drown in the waters off 12th Avenue South about 5:20 p.m., Myrtle Beach Police Lt. John Fullwood said.

Fullwood said one swimmer was rescued and the other was still missing.

The Myrtle Beach Ocean Rescue and Beach Patrol crews are working to recover the body of the missing swimmer who was described as a “young man,” according to a Facebook post by the city.

Witnesses on social media said the swimmer is a teenager.

The U.S. Coast Guard brought in a helicopter, Fullwood said. Lifeguards and Jet skis were also being used to find the swimmer.

This is a developing story.
