More than 2,800 Horry Electric Cooperative customers living in the northern part of Horry County were without power after a transmission outage occurred Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The outage was reported at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday and power was restored at 2:20 p.m. to the 2,829 customers, Horry Electric officials said.

Residents living in the Green Sea, White Pond, Duford, Ketchuptown and Bayboro communities were impacted during the outage. Transmission from Santee Cooper at the Green Sea, Midway and Cedar Creek substations were lost and caused the outage, Horry Electric officials said.

“A tree dropped on transmission by a logger was the cause of the outage. We are glad it was not a more serious repair issue,”Horry Electric officials said.

More information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
