Update: Man found dead in Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach, SC was naked

A dead man’s body was taken out of the Intracoastal Waterway on Sunday in North Myrtle Beach, said North Myrtle Beach Police spokesperson Officer Patrick Wilkinson.

The body was found at the Johnny Causey Landing, 2111 Little River Neck Road, by boaters around 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 11, the police report said. The Black man was naked and had no visible injuries or trauma.

The boaters instructed another set of people at the boat launch to call 911. Police showed up, surveyed the scene and removed his body from the waterway.

As of Monday afternoon, the man has not been identified, said Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Once his identity is discovered, the family will be notified and more information will be released.

This death is under investigation by North Myrtle Beach Police.
