Update: Coroner names driver killed in crash after vehicle overturns on SC highway
A driver is dead after the person’s vehicle traveled off the roadway early Saturday morning.
South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to an accident at 3:53 a.m. July 27, 2024, on Secondary Highway 19 near McNabb Shortcut Road near Loris, according to a release from Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway.
Yolanda Johnson, 45, of Conway, died after her vehicle struck a tree, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Johnson died on the scene.
The driver was operating a 2002 Chevrolet SUV when it went off the road and hit a ditch, the SCHP release said.
Horry County Fire Rescue had to extricate the person from the overturned vehicle, according to a Facebook post.
