Man trapped in sinking car after prosthetic leg became stuck, Myrtle Beach Police reports
Myrtle Beach rescue crews were able to save a man who was trapped in a sinking vehicle.
The man was unable to get out of the vehicle after his prosthetic leg became stuck under the pedals.
Myrtle Beach Police and Fire Department crews responded to the area of Center South and South Kings Highway at 7:35 a.m. July 13, 2024, where a vehicle had left the road and driven into a retention pond, according to a Facebook post.
The driver was unable to exit the vehicle because his leg was stuck. During the rescue, the vehicle began to rapidly sink.
Myrtle Beach Police officers Daniele Loizzi and John Lively, as well as Myrtle Beach firefighter Wyatt Lloyd, quickly formulated an action plan and entered the water, according to the post.
The rescue crews were able to free the driver and pull him through the window before the vehicle sunk entirely.
