Here’s how much people are spending on bills in Myrtle Beach compared to rest of US, new data shows

Myrtle Beach spends less on household bills than the national average, a new report states.

Insights from a cost of living report by bill payment company Doxo reveal that households in Myrtle Beach spend 16% less on routine bills than the national average.

However, when the report examined common bills as a percentage of income, it found that Myrtle Beach households spend 35% of their income on bills on average — 2% above the national average.

The 2024 Cost of Bills Index Report analyzed data from more than 10 million consumers in the United States and looked at monthly bills for mortgage, rent, alarms and security systems, cable and internet, auto loans, auto insurance, health insurance, life insurance, and mobile phones.

On average, American households spend $25,513 annually on essential household bills, according to the report. In contrast, Myrtle Beach households spend an average of $21,480 on common bills annually, which comes out to $1,790 a month.

The state average is a little higher. According to the report, South Carolina households pay an average of $2,126 a month on bills, 10% lower than the national average.
